At age 16, Nicc Johnson began his career as a DJ with the dream of eventually working in the international electronic music hub of Ibiza, Spain. With an unprecedented level of drive and determination, he would exceed that goal shortly to become the resident DJ at Ibiza’s most famous club, Pacha, for seven years, and move on to consult for restaurants, curating and creating music for playlists all around the world.

This is a two-part course series dedicated to sampling found sounds at home and turning them into all kinds of beats and tracks in Ableton Live. The first part is taught by Ableton Certified Trainer Brian Jackson, and concerns how to capture sounds using a simple microphone setup at home, and warp them into useable raw materials in Ableton. The second part follows famed YouTuber, beat maker, and educator Andrew Huang as he makes an incredibly compelling song out of nothing but sounds from a kitchen pot — and explains his process step by step on camera.

Now that you’ve finished recording and your track sounds great, you’ll need to get a file version you can send around. To make a quick mp3 bounce of your song, click on File in the top left corner, then find Share and click on iTunes. Many platforms such as iTunes will compress the file in the process to fit their standards, so be mindful of that.
