Hungry for music

All of our mentored online courses come with six weeks of 1-on-1 professional coaching and feedback on your work. It’s like having a personal trainer, but for music! Whether you’re interested in diving deep into a production-related topic like Modern and Advanced Mix Techniques, Songwriting for Producers, or Making Music in Logic Pro X, or just in working with a Soundfly Mentor directly to achieve a musical goal specific to you, we can help you get there!

The great thing about recording to MIDI is that you can always go in and move notes or chords around by hand. So if the quantization makes some parts of your track sound wacky, just highlight whatever notes you want to edit, and drag them forward or backward in time. The same goes for correcting wrong notes — just drag them into the correct position and voila!

A bit of cleaning goes a long way. A tidy studio is honestly one of the most effective tools for working at optimum capacity. Imagine feeling super inspired and ready to start working, but then entering your studio space and finding that there’s a bunch of confusingly tangled wires at your feet and you can’t find the power cable to turn on your microKORG.

“Under Pressure” is in the key of D major — two half steps up from C. If you’re working in a DAW, you can click and drag the notes of the C major scale outlined above up two half steps and voila! D major! However, we’ll spell them out for you here as well:

There is an exception, and that is the Locrian mode. This mode is a minor mode but it has two different notes from its parallel B minor: C (minor second) instead of C# and F (diminished fifth) instead of F#.

These ideas all might ring true in other area of life, but they don’t have to apply to your singing voice. Singing does not necessarily have to render you “open” and vulnerable to the listener. Try to disconnect from these notions. The best way to do so is to see your voice is an instrument, and your singing is a product of your creativity and skill. Your singing is not a reflection of your “soul” (so to speak).
